Industry Leadership Award for Raw Materials & Mining
Open to raw materials miners, producers, and firms operating in upstream inputs for metals making.
Price swings for inputs such as iron ore, coal and coke have made it a challenging year. Following a period of austerity and cost cutting, raw materials and mining firms have had to re-evaluate mothballed expansion plans and resist the urge to push additional supply back into the market when prices have risen. Challenges such as bankruptcy filings, oversupply and scaled-back expansion plans have required raw materials and mining companies to be nimble to navigate their way to profits.
Judges will look for firms that have made mining or processing raw materials more efficient and/or environmentally friendly, while positioning themselves for long-term growth and greater market share.
In addition to considering each entrant's three-year track record, judges will be looking for evidence of industry-wide impact since January 2016, for all Industry Leadership Awards.
Nominations are closed, and will reopen in December.
